MSK-IX presents new distributed peering platform at Internet Economy 2015 Forum
On December 21, the first Russian Internet Economy Forum opened in Moscow, where leading representatives of the industry and the government will discuss the Internet's role as a driver of Russia's economic development and work out proposals on a long-term program for the development of the Russian sector of the Internet and related industries. The Moscow Internet Exchange, MSK-IX, is taking part in the forum and the Internet + industrial exhibition, organized as part of the forum.

Yelena Voronina: Peering is an interesting multifaceted story
On December 2, the Congress Center of the Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics (MTUCI) hosted the third youth forum titled The Ethical, Culturological and Civilizational Aspects of Working on the Internet. It was attended by talented students and postgraduates from technical universities, who listened to ICT professionals speaking about the Internet’s development and ways both to protect security and promote trust online.

MSK-IX to offer new solutions to European partners
Capacity Europe 2015, an annual international conference and exhibition, has opened in Paris for the 15th time. This year, the forum brings together over 1,500 participants from 370 companies. MSK-IX (Moscow Internet Exchange), a Russian Internet exchange point, is also attending the conference and has its own stand.

ICANN meeting in Dublin may formulate new mechanisms of control over the domain system
The Irish capital of Dublin is hosting the 54th ICANN meeting. Many analysts think it should play a key role in elaborating new mechanisms of control over the global domain system. Earlier the US government expressed its readiness to transfer the controlling functions to the Internet community. On the eve of the forum ICANN President Fadi Chehade expressed his conviction that the common principles of new structures of and mechanisms for controlling the Internet will be elaborated and approved in Dublin.

Pavel Khramtsov: Netoscope highly useful for entire Internet industry
Companies involved in the Netoscope Internet services monitoring project met on the sidelines of Russian Interactive Week (RIW) 2015 on October 21 to mark three years since the project got off the ground. Pavel Khramtsov, who is also in charge of the DNS MSK-IX projects, leads the project.

A series of seminars devoted to the 20th anniversary of MSK-IX concluded with a meeting in Novosibirsk
The series of seminars held in 2015 in various Russian cities to mark the 20th anniversary of MSK-IX has concluded in Novosibirsk. The October 14 meeting with MSK-IX leaders and experts was attended by Novosibirsk clients and partners as well as by market participants from Tomsk, Krasnoyarsk and other Siberian cities.

MSK-IX expands its IPv4 address space
The MSK-IX technical service has announced a renumbering of peering network 193.232.244.0/22, which consists of two subnets, 193.232.244.0/23 and 193.232.246.0/23, and the transfer to one IP-subnet in a new renumbering plan, 195.208.208.0/21. The changes will double the capacity of the IPv4 common address space.

Pavel Khramtsov: New domains stimulate new services
The 8th TLDCON 2015 international conference is taking place in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. The conference has become a venue not only for top-level domain registrars but also for companies that ensure the stability and reliability of the Internet, design and operate network infrastructure and provide services to registrars and registries. This year, company representatives met at the New Back-End Provider Businesses section to discuss the operation of major infrastructure companies under new circumstances and the challenges they have to meet promptly and efficiently.

The prospects of expanding internet exchange points changes in peering policy and traffic localization were key topics on the agenda on the second day of the ENOG 9 regional conference in Kazan. These issues were addressed at the roundtable, "The Many Faces of Distributed Peering and the Russian IXP Ecosystem," involving telecom operators and regional Internet traffic exchange points. The event was moderated by MSK-IX General Director Yelena Voronina.

Yelena Voronina: 20 years is only the beginning
On Thursday, May 28, St. Petersburg hosted the fifth Russian IPv6 Day. This year, it coincided with MSK-IX's 20th anniversary. The event was held in the Popov Central Museum of Communications.
