Medialogistics at the congress of National (Russian) Association of TV and Radio Broadcasters
The international congress mainly focused on legal, technology, financial and economic topics and goals of the television and radio industry following the implementation of the Television and Radio Broadcasting Development in the Russian Federation in 2009-2018 federal targeted program and shutdown of analog broadcasting. The two-day long event included plenary meetings, sessions and discussions on the analog switch-off, the law on a mandatory regional television channel, the bill on regional media, integration of television content with the internet, global trends in television production, television of the future (UltraHD, virtual reality, IP technologies, hybrid media, virtualization), television channels’ legal risks, etc.
MSK-IX Medialogistics Director Grigory Kuzin was invited to speak at the congress. His presentation, «Saving on delivery costs. Television channel distribution technology trends,» gave actual examples of costs cut by television channels that are connected to Medialogistics. The audience was most thrilled with the example of a Siberian regional channel that got delivered to 20 operators across the country.
«Before Medialogistics, many regional television channels could not even think about delivering signals from their city to Moscow operators or other regions, due to the complicated logistics and unfathomable prices. Now their dreams have come true. Television channels from Bryansk, Kemerovo and other cities turn to Medialogistics and, one week later, their signals are in Moscow, they get connected to the ports of the country’s largest operators that are also connected to Medialogistics. Now any regional channel can become a federal one, as long as it is licensed to broadcast on respective territory,» Medialogistics Director Grigory Kuzin said.
Medialogistics is a platform for terrestrial distribution of television signals via optic fiber between broadcasters to cable and satellite TV operators.
