Russian IX.RU Peering Points Support IPv6

The Russian IX.RU peering points have upgraded their network hardware and administrative procedures to fully support IPv6.

Impending IPv4 address exhaustion makes IPv6 implementation an increasingly urgent task. IPv6 provides for enhanced performance, improves data exchange quality and security, and helps overcome IPv4 address space shortage.

Since opening of a pilot IPv6 zone in the MSK-IX network in 2003, the new standard has been further deployed actively to ensure business continuity and to make IPv6 available for all participants present at all IX.RU peering points.
