.РФ – MSK-IX's favorite project
On May 12, a discussion panel marking the sixth anniversary of TLD.РФ, Russia's first Cyrillic domain, took place on the sidelines of the Moscow Media Communications Forum. Invited to speak at the meeting, organized by TLD.РФ's registry, the Coordination Center for TLD.RU/.РФ, were those who, six years ago, stood at the root of what is now seen as the most successful national IDN development project and an exemplary one for new TLDs. The speakers included Yelena Voronina, Andrei Kolesnikov, Arkady Kremer, Alexei Platonov, Mikhail Yakushev and ICANN representative Patrick Jones.

VKontakte becomes 400th MSK-IX participant
The social network VKontakte has joined Russia's leading Internet exchange point MSK-IX. Now Russia's top three social networks VKontakte, Odnoklassniki and Moi Mir owned by Mail.Ru Group are accessible via MSK-IX for mobile operators and their users. Peering exchange via Internet eXchange helps Internet companies reduce the content delivery route and keep major network channels. For end users, it means faster download speeds of website content, games and apps, and also fewer chances of problems arising due to disruption in mobile operators' networks. Peering exchange also makes it possible for MSK-IX to exchange traffic with the VKontakte social network whose key data centers are based in St. Petersburg.

MSK-IX invites TransNet 2016 conference delegates to join hands
Moscow is hosting the 7th Transport Networks Russia 2016 conference ? the Development of Telecommunications Networks in Russia and the CIS. The event is dedicated to important issues in the transit networks market, up-to-date networking solutions, integration and virtualization on Russia-CIS trunk line markets. The event will include principle data routes operators, cellphone and wire-network phone operators, representatives from research and development agencies, manufacturers of infrastructure equipment, system integrators, market consultants and analysts, investment companies and industry regulators.

MSK-IX secures connectivity between Moscow and St. Petersburg
On February 19, St. Petersburg hosted the 3rd Telecom of Two Capitals business forum, a major event for the operator market in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The forum was attended by over 200 delegates from telecommunications companies operating in both cities, vendors, integrators of telecom solutions, representatives of regulatory agencies and established experts.

APTLD members discuss domain space security
On February 18, the 69th Meeting of the Asia Pacific Top Level Domain Association (APTLD) opened in Auckland, New Zealand, involving representatives of national registries from Asia, the Pacific Region, Europe, and international organizations. The MSK-IX delegation is also taking part in the forum.

Memorandum on Russian Internet development signed at Cyber Security Forum 2016
MSK-IX exchange, the Coordination Center for TLD RU and Technical Center of Internet signed a memorandum on the development of the Russian segment of the domain name space during Cyber Security Forum 2016, an international conference on cybersecurity that was held in Moscow on February 9, 2016. The memorandum was signed by MSK-IX Director General Yelena Voronina, Coordination Center for TLD RU Director Andrei Vorobyov and Technical Center of Internet Director General Alexei Platonov.

MSK-IX presents new distributed peering platform at Internet Economy 2015 Forum
On December 21, the first Russian Internet Economy Forum opened in Moscow, where leading representatives of the industry and the government will discuss the Internet's role as a driver of Russia's economic development and work out proposals on a long-term program for the development of the Russian sector of the Internet and related industries. The Moscow Internet Exchange, MSK-IX, is taking part in the forum and the Internet + industrial exhibition, organized as part of the forum.

Yelena Voronina: Peering is an interesting multifaceted story
On December 2, the Congress Center of the Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics (MTUCI) hosted the third youth forum titled The Ethical, Culturological and Civilizational Aspects of Working on the Internet. It was attended by talented students and postgraduates from technical universities, who listened to ICT professionals speaking about the Internet’s development and ways both to protect security and promote trust online.

Capacity Europe 2015, an annual international conference and exhibition, has opened in Paris for the 15th time. This year, the forum brings together over 1,500 participants from 370 companies. MSK-IX (Moscow Internet Exchange), a Russian Internet exchange point, is also attending the conference and has its own stand.

ICANN meeting in Dublin may formulate new mechanisms of control over the domain system
The Irish capital of Dublin is hosting the 54th ICANN meeting. Many analysts think it should play a key role in elaborating new mechanisms of control over the global domain system. Earlier the US government expressed its readiness to transfer the controlling functions to the Internet community. On the eve of the forum ICANN President Fadi Chehade expressed his conviction that the common principles of new structures of and mechanisms for controlling the Internet will be elaborated and approved in Dublin.
