MSK-IX tests DDoS protection

At the TTS’25 conference, MSK-IX announced two important events: the launch of pilot testing of a DDoS protection system at the L7 level, which is under development and for which the company is looking for partners; and the launch of an unprecedented three-month promotion for new clients to access the IX platform for free.

At the TTS‘25 telecom conference, held on April 8-11 in Altai, MSK-IX CTO Alexander Ilyin spoke about the development of a new solution for protection against DDoS attacks at the L7 level (application level) and invited companies to join the pilot testing. He also announced a special promotion for conference participants to access the main MSK-IX platform.

Looking for partners: MSK-IX testing L7 protection
In his report, Alexander Ilyin noted that MSK-IX, the operator of the largest internet traffic exchange point in Russia and Eastern Europe, was actively working on its own solution to counter DDoS attacks at the seventh, application level. This is a promising area for the company, complementing the existing portfolio of services: IX, DNS, NTP, and Medialogistika among others.
The CTO explained that the development was at an advanced stage, but the company needed partners to finalize it and test its effectiveness in real-life conditions.

“We are starting the pilot testing of our L7 protection solution, so we are looking for operators, hosts, and content providers who face real attacks at the application level and are ready to volunteer to test the system together with us. We are in dire need of feedback from the pilot zone participants, so that we can further develop and finetune our solution before putting it out on the market. We are ready for close cooperation,” Alexander Ilyin said.

It became possible to develop such complex systems thanks to MSK-IX’s powerful and constantly upgrading infrastructure, which will have an installed capacity of up to 154 Tbit/s and use 400G interfaces by the end of the year.

Unprecedented promotion for TTS‘25 participants
The second important announcement was about an exclusive promotion for TTS‘25 conference participants. Alexander Ilyin said that new clients who decide to connect to the MSK-IX platform until the end of April 2025 will receive a unique opportunity: they will be able to use the full range of Internet Exchange services for three months for free.

During his report, he also spoke about topics such as importance of traffic exchange points for ensuring internet connectivity and stability, MSK-IX network’s scale with over 1,000 participants in seven cities, high requirements for the quality and reliability of the infrastructure, and the development of other services, including the unique Medialogistika platform that delivered television signals and the B2B marketplace of content and services for the Mediabaza media market.
